ChonX privacy policy

Who we are

ChonX is a product of Orzynex Innovations FZE LLC (“OrzyneX”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in the Ajman NuVentures Centre Free Zone, United Arab Emirates. Our registered office is 26th Floor, Amber Gem Tower, Ajman, UAE.

This policy explains what information ChonX collects, how we use it and the choices you have. It covers the ChonX mobile app and the ChonX pages on orzynex.com. To ask a question, write to contactus@orzynex.com.

Who ChonX is for

ChonX is adopted by schools. School administrators, teachers, sustainability champions and students use it through their school. There is no public sign-up: a student can create an account only with an invitation or an access code issued by their school’s ChonX administrator. Students aged 13 and over may have their own account. For younger students, a teacher or the school’s ChonX administrator records eco-actions on the student’s behalf.

Many ChonX users are children. The school is responsible for obtaining any consent from parents or guardians that the law requires before students use ChonX. If someone without a valid school invitation or code reaches ChonX, they cannot create an account. We do not knowingly allow a child to use ChonX outside a participating school.

Information we collect

• Account details: name, school, class or year group, role (student, teacher, sustainability champion or administrator) and the email address or login used to sign in.
• Eco-actions: the actions a student logs, the date, any description, and the photo uploaded as proof.
• Progress: points, streaks, challenge results and leaderboard position.
• Teacher activity: challenges that teachers set and their decisions when verifying student submissions.
• Chonbot messages: the questions and messages a user sends to Chonbot, the AI eco-coach, and its replies. These messages are sent to Google’s Gemini AI service to produce the reply, so please do not include personal details in them.
• Technical information: device type, operating system, app version, and crash or error logs.
• Pilot requests: the school name, contact name, role, email address and other details a school sends us when it asks for a pilot.

We ask students to photograph the action, not people. Please do not upload photos that show faces or other personal details.

We do not collect precise location, contacts or payment information.

How we use information

• To provide ChonX: create accounts, record eco-actions, award points and show leaderboards.
• To let teachers verify submissions and set challenges.
• To give school administrators a view of their school’s participation and progress towards Net Zero.
• To answer questions sent to Chonbot.
• To keep ChonX secure, fix problems and improve it.
• To reply to schools that contact us.

We do not sell personal information. We do not show advertising in ChonX, and we do not use student information for marketing.

Who can see information

• Within a school: teachers and administrators at a student’s school can see that student’s submissions and progress. Other students at the same school can see leaderboard names and points.
• Service providers: companies that help us run ChonX, under contracts that limit how they may use the information. These include Supabase, which provides the database and file storage, and Google, whose Gemini AI service powers Chonbot.
• Legal reasons: authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not share one school’s information with another school. We may publish combined figures that do not identify any person, such as the total number of actions logged.

Where information is stored and how it is protected

ChonX information is stored with Supabase in its South Asia (Mumbai) region, in India. Information is encrypted when it travels between the app and our servers, and access is limited to people who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep information

We keep account and activity information while a school uses ChonX. When a school stops using ChonX, or when we receive a valid deletion request, we delete the personal information within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete personal information held in ChonX. Students and parents should normally ask their school first, as the school manages its ChonX accounts. Anyone can also write to us directly.

To delete a ChonX account and its data, email contactus@orzynex.com from the address linked to the account, or ask your school administrator to send the request. We will confirm once it is done.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will tell participating schools.
